“PCS is fantastic at identifying network problems and informing me (the customer) in understandable dialogue, how that problem would best be remedied. I called PCS when my server crashed. PCS was able to stop a technician already en route to another job and fix our problem within 20 minutes. My business would have to close its’ doors if our network crashed for any length of time. PCS has always had a terrific response time for any network problems that could impair normal function of business.”

EHR Association to Delay Stage 2
Wide spread usage of electronic health records (EHR) will happen eventually. But just as Rome wasn’t built in a day, neither will the transition from paper health records to EHRs happen all at once. It’s a gradual process that could last for several more years to give health care workers plenty of time to adapt.
According to Healthcare IT News managing editor Mike Milliard, on May 11, 2012, the HIMSS Electronic Health Records Association “logged its comments on Stage 2 meaningful use with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC). The group offered recommendations on proposed certification criteria and standards as well as on Stage 2 meaningful use requirements for providers. It praised CMS’ confirmation of a one-year delay in the start of Stage 2 in order to allow more time for testing and implementation of EHRs updated for Stage 2 – something that had been requested by a wide variety of stakeholder organizations.”
Because the EHR Association represents a group of experienced software developers who create EHRs and related modules, its opinions carry a lot of weight. Managed IT services providers that specialize in supporting health care organizations can take advantage of these recent developments by holding special training events to help their clients become more familiar with EHRs and all the rules, regulations and requirements that go along with them. Lack of training or insufficient training probably cause the biggest problems for most health care organizations. By staging events that familiarize health care professionals with electronic health records, MSPs demonstrate not only their commitment to their clients but also to their communities as successful, meaningful use of EHRs benefits everyone.
Technology can be confusing to people who haven’t grown up using it on a daily basis or have an affinity for it. But savvy managed IT services providers that are truly committed to their clients’ success will develop creative ways to help their clients adapt to using EHRs and other health care IT tools.
